Detroit at Los Angeles

Los Angeles has won four of the last five meetings with Detroit, which still is in a rebuilding mode and waiting for its young players to step up. Coach Jeff Blashill is on the hot seat as Red Wings fans are not accustomed to losing. The Wings opened their season with a 3-2 overtime loss to Columbus. Detroit was outshot 39-20, and Jimmy Howard had 36 saves in a losing cause. The Kings also come off an overtime loss as they fell to San Jose, 3-2, on Friday.  The Kings rallied from a 2-0 deficit before Kevin LeBanc scored 2:53 into overtime for the Sharks. Jonathan Quick made 30 saves for Los Angeles. The Kings have won five of the last seven meetings at Staples Center and nine of their last 12 against teams with .400 or below winning percentages dating to last season. Detroit has lost nine in a row versus Western Conference teams. Also, the Red Wings have lost 43 of their last 63 road contests. Play the Kings.
