Once down three games to one, the Chicago Blackhawks have come roaring back to force a decisive Game seven. How can this dominant team that started the season so hot lose to a #7 seed? Detroit was fortunate to get here, needing to close the season with four straight wins to even make the playoffs. But, now this team is making the most of a great opportunity. There is a lot of history here as Detroit has been in the playoffs 19 straight seasons. Game sevens across all sports that play to a format of HH-AA-H-A-H have been won by the home team 157-78 or a winning percentage of 66.8%. Those numbers decline in the NHL to 84-58 or 59.2%. The numbers, however, take a bigger decline when the series has shown the game the sequence of W-LLL-WW going into Game seven. Across all sports, the record for the home team is 12-16 or 42.9%, while in the NHL it is 6-8 for a 42.9% win rate. When you combine the site order (HH-AA-H-A), with the win order (W-LLL-WW), the record is 0-5 in the NHL, which applies to Chicago here. I like the situation here for Detroit on the moneyline to spring to upset, as all of the pressure here is on Chicago and most of this season they haven't had to play with pressure at all. I'm on the Red Wings to move on.
