Detroit at Carolina

Detroit has suffered a late-season tailspin similar to last year when it again missed the playoffs. The Red Wings have lost six of seven, although they did win a 7-3 win over Buffalo on Wednesday. Carolina has won five in a row while allowing only seven goals in that span, and the Hurricanes have won the past five meetings with Detroit. Carolina has won six of seven home games and will likely start Frederik Andersen, who is 8-5-0 with a 2.16 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage. The Red Wings are expected to go with newly acquired Petr Mrazek, who is 11-19-2 with a 3.44 GAA. Detroit had scored only 11 goals in its previous six games before Wednesday. Take the Hurricanes.
