Columbus at Washington

The Columbus Blue Jackets appeared to have finally turned the corner last season. They made the playoffs, and although they were eliminated quickly by Pittsburgh in six games, there was a lot of anticipation coming into this season. Columbus has failed to live up to expectations and certainly don't resemble the same team that made the playoffs last season. This is a team that has had long-term issues when playing on the road where they own a woeful 168-350-15 mark in their last 533 road games. Those numbers don't get any better vs. a struggling home team as they tip the scales at 24-58-4 in their last 86 vs. a team with a home winning percentage of under .400. Washington has matched a season high three-game winning streak where they allowed a single goal in two of them, and have been a lot more focused on the defensive end over their last three games - all wins. The Caps come into play tonight having played 6-1 to the UNDER when they face a squad that allowed 2 goals or less in their previous game, and have been 60-29 at home vs. poor road teams, those less than .400 on the road for the season.
