Colorado looks to get back on track after a tough homestand against the Capitals. Washington has lost eight of their last 10 games although they did manage a 3-2 win over Vancouver on Tuesday. Alex Ovechkin became the NHL's all-time scoring leader among Russian players and Braden Holtby had 30 saves. Washington likely will face goalie Philipp Grubauer, who played with the Caps last season before being traded away to the Avalanche. Washington won the only meeting this season 3-2 in overtime on Nov. 16, but the Capitals are just 2-7 over their last nine games versus Western Conference teams and 1-6 their last seven as a favorite. If Semyon Varlamov goes for Colorado, he owns a 2.89 goals-against average and .905 save percentage. The Capitals are in a letdown situation after an emotional win on Tuesday, including Jay Beagle's return to his old arena. Take advantage and go with the Avalanche.
