This is a tough spot for Colorado, the end of a four-game road trip and the second of a back-to-back spot. Colorado got roasted at Montreal yesterday, 10-1. The numbers are ugly under their first-year coach: #29 in the NHL in goals scored, last in goals allowed, and #24 in penalty killing. Colorado has lost seven of eight games, getting outscored 36-18. They managed just 16 shots on goal last night, and the Avalanche are 24-58 playing on no days rest. Toronto is home with the sixth ranked offense in the league, plus solid special teams play. Auston Matthews and Zach Hyman scored, and Frederik Andersen made 32 saves as the Maple Leafs won at Boston, 4-1, on Saturday as a dog. The Maple Leafs have points in five straight against the Avalanche (4-0-1) after scoring 12 goals in two wins last season. Toronto has won seven of its last 10 at home, and this is a great situational spot for the hungry young home team. Play Toronto.
