Despite posting its second-highest win (38) and point (84) totals in franchise history last season, Minnesota finished 11th in the Western Conference. Throughout their existence, the Wild have relied heavily on Marian Gaborik for offense. Colorado lost its opener last night in a heart breaker. Darryl Sydor took a stupid slashing penalty on Heduk to end the third period. Putting the Stars in jeapordy during overtime. Just as the Stars killed off the penalty Sydor came out of the penalty box to take a pass from goaltender Marty Turco and score the winning goal at 2:07 of overtime. Colorado looked excellent though. They peppered Turco all game and in the first period should of had at least 2 more goals. Minnesota has always been a low scoring team and I look for Colorado to come out explosive. Take Colorado for 1 star.
