The Avalanche recorded just one win in a game that wasn't decided by a shootout during a dreadful stretch of 12 games. They have righted the ship and are playing much better hockey, and are on the plus side in their last seven times out on the ice. They have also been +5 in the goals scored in these seven games. The Red Wings are having another good season trying to go back-to-back off their Stanley Cup winning season a year ago. What has to be a concern is the amount of goals this team has given up recently. They have allowed 19 goals in their last five games, or just about four per game. Sooner or later that comes back to haunt you. This is a vulnerable spot for the Red Wings as it will be their fourth game in six days, and it has been when they are at their worst. The Red Wings have been just 4-12 the last 16 times they have been in the fourth game in six-day situation which presents us with tremendous value on the big dog here. I'll back the Avalanche in this one.
