This total is set high because the Hurricanes have a history this season of giving it up on the defensive end, but things aren't what they have been recently for this team. They got off to a horrible start and through their first 18 games, which included their 14-game winless streak they allowed 38 goals in nine road games, or over four per night. They have rebounded nicely, allowing just 21 in their last eight games, or 2.6 per night, so the defense has pared almost a goal and a half off each game. At the same time, the Capitals have become very defensive, and are getting great play between the pipes. Washington, in their last seven games, has allowed just 12 goals, or less than two per game. This one might look like a high-scoring game, but recent results dictate otherwise, so I'm going UNDER here.
