Carolina at Vancouver

Carolina won the only meeting this season 5-3 in early October and the Hurricanes have won eight of their last 11 games overall although they do come off a 3-2 loss at Calgary on Tuesday. Mikael Backlund scored 15 seconds into overtime for the win. Petr Mrazek had 22 saves for the Hurricanes, who have won five in a row in a third game of a three-in-four situation. Vancouver defeated Detroit 3-2 on Sunday when rookie Elias Pettersson had a goal and an assist for the Canucks. Mrazek will probably be in goal again for Carolina as Curtis McElhinney still is questionable with a knee injury. Vancouver has lost 12 of its last 16 games playing with two days rest. Canucks goalie Jacob Markstrom has lost four of his last six starts. Carolina had a 35-25 shot advantage against the Flames in a losing cause and should have won. Go with the Hurricanes on Wednesday night.
