The Toronto Maple Leafs' offense has led the charge to a 7-2 start of the 2017 season. The Leafs have blistered the net to the tune of 40 goals in nine games, or 4.4 per contest. They have used their team speed to try to force an opponent to play at an up-tempo, which is the way they have their best chance. The problem has been that within that up-tempo style, they have allowed 5, 6, and 6 goals in three games, and opponents have averaged well over three goals per game. The good side of things for the Hurricanes is that they have slowed down the Maple Leafs attack, and in the last nine meetings they have allowed fewer than two goals per contest. (1.8).
