Carolina at Philadelphia

While it is still early in the NHL season, it is getting late for the Philadelphia Flyers and the Carolina Hurricanes. Both are on the outside looking in right now if the playoffs were to start today, and neither has played well enough to deserve to be on the inside. Philadelphia is just 3-11 over their last 14 games, their worst stretch of the young season. They have just had all kinds of problems on the offensive end, while defending better than most. That has shown their last 12 games to have played eight of them to a total of five goals or less, and as you can see they are losing low-scoring games. Carolina hasn't positioned themselves much better as the Hurricanes have dropped 8 of their last 10 games. The last six have seen them lose five of them and the combined total of goals scored in the six games has been just 21, or 3.5 goals combined. Overall we have a pair of struggling offenses, which gives the dog here a real chance to steal a win in a game that looks like it will be low and tight in one of those 2-1, or 1-0 type of games. The Flyers are just 5-16 off a game where they allowed 2 goals or less in their last 21 instances. Carolina has played six straight to the UNDER as well as 35-13-2 to the UNDER in their last 50 when facing an opponent that allowed 2 goals or fewer in their previous game. This game looks like a toss-up, and the sizable dog holds the value. Play on Carolina and the UNDER.
