Carolina's defense has fallen apart of late as they have allowed 17 goals in their last five games and that includes games against Vancouver, Buffalo and Montreal. New York is well rested, having been off since the 20th. In contrast, Carolina is having to play back-to-back and they are just 12-21 the past couple of seasons in that situation. The Islanders are playing very well, having killed all 10 penalties their past two games. The history of these teams has been to play UNDER but we'll go the other way here. With the Hurricane's defense playing the way they are, we think New York will have offensive success and we also think Carolina can get in the net. Carolina is 42-35 OVER the past three seasons following a high-scoring game (7+ goals scored). And under Peter Laviolette, Carolina is 23-12 OVER after allowing 5+ goals. We'll back New York on the puck line and take the OVER here.
