Calgary at Vancouver

Calgary finished fifth in the Pacific Division last year with 84 points. The key to this season is finding a way to keep goaltender Mike Smith healthy. The Flames were a playoff team in 2016-17, but a scoring drop off last year killed them. They addressed the issue by adding forwards James Neal from Vegas and trading for Elias Lindholm. Vancouver struggled to score a season ago, and likely will again in 2018-19. The defense has a lot of question marks. Ben Hutton and Troy Stecher are both looking to bounce back from disappointing seasons. Smith is certainly healthy to start the season, and with an infusion of offense, I think the Flames can get out to a quick start. Play on Calgary.
