The Buffalo Sabres had some issues on the defensive end early in the season. Buffalo was getting beaten behind shoddy defense going through a nine-game stretch where they allowed 38 goals or over 4 per contest. They have played 4-4, allowing 2 goals per contest outside of that stretch, which they are in now. It positions them to be a better team than they appear to be and have value as a dog here. Toronto has played extensively on the road, and have simply have not had enough time on home ice to take advantage, as they are just 3-4 in the seven they have played here. That has plagued them going back to the end of last season, as they are now a dreadful 5-15 in their last 20 games playing on home ice. The Sabres have had control of this series at 17-8 in the last 25 meetings. Go with Buffalo.
