The Boston bruins have begun defending their Stanley Cup by opening a 2-1 series lead on the Washington Capitals. To their credit the Capitals have hung tough, but in spite of superb efforts they are still down in the series and lost a backbreaker in Game 3 at home. The Caps’ only reason for even being here was due entirely to a lights-out start to the season where they opened 7-0. This is a team that over their last 46 games, which is most of the season, has been a below .500 team. They have also not embraced the role of an underdog as they are just 10-21 in their last 31 as a dog, and that includes a money burning 1-9 when they are posted as a dog of +110 to +150. The Capitals have also dropped four straight as a home dog, while the Bruins on two days of rest are now 23-11 in their last 34, and are also 13-4 in their last 17 as road chalk of -110 to -150. Play on Boston for my Game of the Year.
