Boston at Toronto

Boston got off to a good start as the Bruins attempt to return to the postseason after missing it the last two seasons. David Backes scored twice and had an assist as the Bruins defeated Columbus 6-3 on Thursday. Boston won without the injured Patrice Bergeron as David Pastrnak also scored two goals on a line that included Brad Marchand. Tuukka Rask stopped 28 shots for the Bruins. Toronto's #1 overall pick, Auston Matthews, had a tremendous debut in scroing four goals, however, the Maple Leafs lost in overtime 5-4 at Ottawa. Toronto still is rebuilding though, after finishing in eighth place last season.  Frederik Andersen had 25 saves for the Leafs. Toronto has lost 60 of its last 81 games against the Eastern Conference and the Leafs finished last season losing its last four home games.
