A few days ago the Coyotes entertained hopes of hosting a first-round series. But, a 3-1 loss to San Jose sealed their fate and now they have to travel to Detroit to face one of the strongest NHL playoff teams of the decade and a team with 11 Stanley Cup championships. In terms of total record, theses teams are not that dis-similar, but Detroit is the stronger team, playing at home. Under Mike Babcock, this team is 168-113 vs. winning teams. That includes a 112-62 mark vs. teams at .600 or worse. The Red Wings are 10-3 in their last 13 opening round playoff games and 37-14 in their last 51 playoff games as a favorite. I like Detroit to win game one.
