Detroit has won its first two games, but now their top line will go up against one of the best goalies in the league in John Gibson, who has a .971 save percentage in two games while allowing only two goals in wins over Arizona and San Jose. Gibson kept the punchless Ducks in many games in 2018-19 when he finished with a 2.84 goals-against average. New coach Dallas Eakins has the Ducks playing with a new determination and they seem to have a new lease on life. Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and Ondrej Kase two assists against the Sharks. Anaheim is a slight favorite in this matchup and the Ducks are 46-22 their last 68 games in that situation and the favorite has won 39 of the last 58 meetings. The Red Wings are coming along nicely with their rebuilding, but the edge tonight goes to Anaheim. Back the Ducks.
