Detroit Red Wings vs Philadelphia Flyers

Detroit comes off a 4-2 upset win over Toronto, but the Red Wings haven't been able to put together a good stretch of games this season and they haven't won two in a row since Nov. 27. Detroit has lost five of six following a win and four of five against teams with losing records. The Red Wings are 5-11 their past 16 versus Metropolitan Division opponents and Philadelphia actually has a slightly better record on the road than at home. The Flyers have won two of three although they did lose 4-1 to Minnesota on Saturday before having three days off. Samuel Ersson is expected to start and he is 3-1-0 with a 2.50 goals-against average in road games this season. Ville Husso is probable for Detroit with a 1-4-2 record and a 3.46 goals-against average. Philadelphia has won five of seven meetings, including 4-1 on Thursday. Take the Flyers.

Philadelphia has won 14 of 24 on the road this season and the Flyers are looking to avenge a wild 7-6 shootout loss to Detroit in the last meeting on Dec. 22. The Red Wings jumped out to a 5-1 first-period lead and then hung on in regulation before winning the shootout. The Red Wings have lost two of three, including 5-4 to Dallas on Tuesday. The Flyers are out to end a three-game skid and will have Samuel Ersson in net as Carter Hart has taken a leave of absence. Ersson is 12-7-3 with a 2.44 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage with three shutouts this season. Alex Lyon is confirmed for Detroit. Philadelphia has gone OVER four games in a row and it has four straight OVERS versus teams that allowed at least five goals their prevous game. Detroit comes off a tough 2-1 loss to Carolina on Thursday when Ville Husso stopped 37 shots, but the Red Wings couldn't solve Hurricanes goalie Pyotr Kochetkov, who had 25 saves. Alex Lyon will get the call tonight for Detroit and he is 4-2-0 with a 2.13 GAA and .931 save percentage with one shutout as Husso's backup. Both teams are playing their third game in five days, but Philadelphia had to go into overtime its past two while losing 3-2 in OT to Nashville and then the Flyers had a 4-3 shootout win over Washington on Thursday. Detroit averages 3.69 goals per game compared to 3.01 for the Flyers and the Red Wings are getting good value as road underdogs. Play the Red Wings.
