Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers caught fire late last season, but to this point in 2024, the electric offense has not been very dynamic. Edmonton has played five games and produced 11 or just 2.2 goals per contest. This may be a tough challenge to get the offense turned around for the Oilers, as Dallas has allowed just eight goals in five games or 1.6 per contest. The other side of things for Dallas has not been nearly as good. The Stars have scored fewer than three goals per contest. Edmonton had the best home mark in the Western Conference (28-9-4) during the regular season and the second-best in the NHL. They're second in the playoffs in goals scored (3.59 per game) after being fourth (3.56 per game) during the regular season. Edmonton fell behind 2-0 in Game 4, but kept its cool and proceeded to score five unanswered goals by five different skaters to beat Dallas 5-2 and even the series at two games apiece. The Oilers overcame a lot of adversity early in the season and that experience has carried over into the playoffs and they have 23 straight penalty kills. Edmonton goalie Stuart Skinner stopped 20 shots on Wednesday night and he is 9-5 with a 2.71 goals-against average in the playoffs. The Stars are 0-9 on power plays in the series and the Oilers have a plethora of weapons on offense to go along with their penalty killing.
