This is the first meeting of the season after Carolina beat the Devils in five games in last year's Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Hurricanes have won nine of 12 after defeating Boston 3-2 on the road on Wednesday night. Jordan Martinook scored the eventual game winner with a breakaway goal with 2:27 left and Spencer Martin had 26 saves in his first start for Carolina after being acquired from Columbus. Antti Raanta should be back in net in this back-to-back spot and he is 10-7-2. Nico Daws is likely for New Jersey with a 3-4-0 record and 3.18 goals-against average. The Devils have lost five of eight although they do come off a 6-5 overtime win over Vegas on Monday for their second straight OVER. Six of the past eight meetings have gone OVER and Carolina is 5-1 OVER against teams that scored at least five goals their previous game.
