Minnesota Vikings vs Seattle Seahawks

Seattle is on the way up while Minnesota is retooling. The Seahawks just missed starting 2-0 after losing in OT at home to a talented Tennessee squad. Seattle rolled in its only road game, winning at Indy, 28-16. QB Russell Wilson (6 TDs, 0 INTs) is off to another great start, and the defense is ranked #12 in turnovers. The Seahawks are 34-15-4 ATS after a defeat and 21-9 ATS after scoring and allowing 30+ points in their last contest. They're also 33-16-3 ATS after getting 250+ yards passing in the last game. Winless Minnesota has defensive problems, allowing 27 and 34 points. They are also ranked #27 in yards allowed, #25 in passing yards given up, and #26 in points surrendered. The Vikings listed seven players (four starters) on their injury report, including RB Dalvin Cook (ankle). Minnesota had more talent than this the last three years, and Seattle beat them in two meetings, 27-26 and 37-30. Minnesota finally won a game, although it was against the lowly Houston Texans, and Dalvin Cook ran for 130 yards and two touchdowns as the Vikings escaped after a review nullified what would have been a touchdown catch by Will Fuller with about a minute left. Seattle remained unbeaten with a 31-23 victory over Miami as Russell Wilson threw for 360 yards and two TDs, and the Seahawks have scored at least 30 points in every game this season. The Seahawks racked up 441 total yards of offense, and they rank #3 in the NFL in total yards gained and #3 in passing yards. The Vikings are #29 in yards allowed while giving up 31.3 points per game. Minnesota has not beaten the Seahawks since 2009 in six meetings. The Vikings are 1-6 ATS their last seven games following a win and 6-15 ATS versus teams with winning records. Also, Minnesota is 3-7 ATS its last 10 as a road underdog. Minnesota comes off a 34-25 win at New Orleans, and coach Mike Zimmer now is an exceptional 18-4 straight-up and 15-7 ATS in the preseason. The Vikings got contributions from four quarterbacks, including Sean Mannion (7-of-13 for 102 yards), starter Kirk Cousins (4-of-4 for 65 yards), Kyle Sloter (6-of-7 for 62 yards), and Jake Browning (2-of-3 for 18 yards). That's the kind of depth one would want to see in preseason games. The Vikings also rushed for 213 yards led by Mike Boone with 70 yards on only four carries. Seattle won its first preseason game since 2017 as Pete Carroll's team uncharacteristically lost all four preseason games in 2018. Paxton Lynch finished 11-of-15 for 109 yards and a touchdown, and Geno Smith came in and completed 3-of-9 for 58 yards. Minnesota also defeated the Seahawks 21-20 in Week 3 of last year's preseason. Zimmer is 12-9-1 UNDER in exhibition play, and the most recent regular-season meeting was in December when Seattle won 21-7, and it went UNDER by 17.5 points.
