Los Angeles Rams vs Philadelphia Eagles

Los Angeles held off the Cowboys 20-17 thanks to an offensive pass interference call that went against the Cowboys in the closing seconds, and the game went UNDER by 15 points. The Rams also made a key defensive play with about 12 minutes left when safety Jordan Fuller tackled CeeDee Lamb short of a first down on a fourth and three from the Los Angeles 11 yard line. The Rams rushed 40 times for only 3.8 yards per carry, and Jared Goff was a respectable 20 of 32 for 275 yards and an interception. Philadelphia blew a 17-0 lead and lost to Washington 27-17 as Carson Wentz was sacked eight times and threw two costly interceptions. The Eagles have a depleted offensive line, which means the offense won't show much improvement this week. The Rams have gone UNDER five of the last six seasons in Week 2, and the Eagles have stayed UNDER six of their last eight versus NFC teams. In addition, Philly is 19-7 UNDER its last 26 home games. A pair of talented quarterbacks with aggressive offensive head coaches square off in perfect Southern California weather. Philadelphia comes off a tough OT loss at Dallas, but the defending champs are still motivated to play well, just one game back in the Wild Card race and two back for the division title. Eagles' starting QB Carson Wentz is out with a fractured vertebrae, and in anticipation, Philadelphia told Nick Foles to be ready to play. Nick Foles is a Super Bowl MVP, and a terrific backup and has confidence stepping into the starting role. The Eagles match up well with a Rams offense that is third in scoring (32.7 points per game), but the defense is #19 in yards allowed, #24 against the run, and #18 in points surrendered (24.1 per game). The Rams got shut down at Chicago last week, scoring just six points. They are a big favorite here, but are just 2-8-1 ATS at home against a team with a losing road record, 16-40-2 ATS after allowing 150 or fewer passing yards, plus 22-47 ATS after getting fewer than 250 total yards in their previous game. Philadelphia is on a 10-1 ATS run against the Rams, including a 43-35 road win last season. The UNDER has hit six of the last seven games when following an Eagles loss. QB Carson Wentz (29 TDs, six INTs) leads the way on an offense averaging 30.1 points per game (tied for first). Philadelphia is 46-22 OVER the total after a defeat, as well as 14-4 OVER on the road. They are in bounce-back mode after getting shut down at Seattle, but after their only other defeat this season they scored 27 points in a win over the Giants that sailed OVER. The Eagles are on an 8-1 ATS run, including 8-2 ATS on natural grass. They face a Los Angeles Rams offense that is fourth in total yards, tied for tops in points (30.1 per game) with these Eagles. This young team has benefitted from an easy schedule, but has losses to the Redskins (27-20), the Seahawks (16-10), and to the Vikings (24-7). The Rams are 67-96 ATS against winning teams, as well as 34-54 ATS after gaining 99 or fewer rushing yards in two straight games, so back the first-place dog in a shootout.
