Chicago Bears vs Seattle Seahawks

Chicago defeated Kansas City, 19-14, last week, but it was the defense that led to most of the Bears' points. Linebacker Jack Sanborn had an interception and a fumble recovery in the third quarter that led to a touchdown and a field goal as the game stayed UNDER. QB Justin Fields was four of seven for 48 yards on three possessions and the Chicago D held the Chiefs to just 52 rushing yards. Seattle played its first game without Russell Wilson and lost 32-25 to Pittsburgh as Geno Smith completed 10 of 15 for 101 yards, while Drew Lock went 11-for-15 for 100 yards. The Bears are in a rebuilding mode with new HC Matt Eberflus, and not much is expected from them offensively this season. Trevor Siemian threw for 89 yards while Nathan Peterman passed for 36 yards against the Chiefs. Both are journeymen QBs. The Seahawks are 6-2 UNDER in their last eight preseason games and 5-1 UNDER in their last six preseason Game 2s. Take the UNDER. 

Seattle's defense struggled early on, but it has turned things around allowing 16.6 points per game over the last eight contests. That's bad news for a terrible Chicago offense that is 28th in total yards and points (17.1 per game). They are also 31st on third down (33.3%). Rookie QB Justin Fields (seven TDs, 10 INTs) is battling a sore ankle, and he and Andy Dalton have been sacked 45 times in 14 games, the second-most allowed in the NFL. The Bears are on a 9-4 run UNDER the total and are also 35-17 UNDER after a loss. Plus, Seattle is on a 10-3-1 run UNDER the total. The Seahawks' offense has allowed the fifth-most sacks and is 23rd in scoring, 22nd in rushing, and 30th on third-down (33.9%). The rebuilding Chicago Bears are not ready for prime time with their young QB, blowing a 20-point lead last week. Second-year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky threw for only 171 yards and was terrible during crunch time in the second half. The Bears are 17-39-1 ATS after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous game, as well as 5-16-1 ATS after allowing less than 90 yards rushing the last contest. They face a veteran Seattle quarterback and coaching staff used to winning, at home or on the road. The Seahawks dropped a close one in Denver last week, 27-24, as QB Russell Wilson threw for 298 yards and three touchdowns. Wilson has thrown at least two touchdown passes in each of his last six road contests. The Seahawks are 10-3-2 ATS following a loss, as well as 8-3-1 ATS in these Monday Night TV showdowns with the whole world watching. Seattle has covered four of the last five meetings, as well as a 4-1 ATS run at Soldier Field, so back the experienced dog with the superior edge at quarterback. Play Seattle.

Seattle is 1-1 this preseason, with little to prove coming off a Super Bowl title. They are a huge home favorite here because they've been a dominant preseason home team under Pete Carroll. However, they are 1-1 and the QB rotation is not impressive after Russell Wilson, with Tarvaris Jackson, BJ Daniels, and Terrelle Pryor. And they are facing a very talented Chicago Bears team that is 2-0. The Bears have a better and more experienced QB rotation with Jay Cutler, Jimmy Clausen, and Jordan Palmer. Last week Cutler threw for 75 yards, including a touchdown before having a seat while Jimmy Clausen and Jordan Palmer combined for 167 yards in a win over the Jaguars. This wideout corps is tall and talented, and offensive mastermind Coach Mark Trestman picks up WR Santonio Holmes this week. You need a strong offensive line against the attacking Seahawks, and Chicago does with a young unit that really gelled last season. The Bears' improved offensive line has been solid so far this preseason and is a big reason why Cutler is finding success through the air. And the Bears' revamped defensive line is looking good, too. This one is shaping up to be a close one, so grab the big dog and play the Bears.
