Seattle will look to sweep its four-game season-series with Sacramento Tuesday night when it visits Arco Arena. The Kings will try to avoid and keep themselves right on the tail of the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference standings.
Sacramento is coming off a 112-100 home loss to Minnesota in its last. The Kings had an early lead in the contest but couldn't hold it and tried a fourth quarter comeback but could not complete it. Sacramento lost in Seattle in November 108-78 as a one-point favorite then dropped two games to the Sonics in February. They lost 106-101 February 1 as a 6.5-point home favorite and then 115-107 nine days later in Seattle as a 3.5-point underdog. The Sonics lead the Western Conference's Northwest Division by 8.5 games over the Denver Nuggets. At 50-23 the Sonics are all but locked into the third seed in the West. At their high-water point they were 41-16, however, so they are just 9-7 over their last 16 games. The Sonics are now 40-31-2 ATS on the year, including 21-13-2 ATS on the road and 7-3 over their last 10 away (5-3-2 ATS). Sacramento has trouble with Seattle primarily because they don't play well against good 3-point teams. Also, home favorites of 3.5 to 9.5 points off a home loss by 10 points or more are just 4-24 ATS (14%) in April games since 1996. Two stars on the Sonics who might win this game outright.
