San Antonio at Phoenix

San Antonio may be battered and bruised after a grueling series with Sonics but the Spurs will offer an interesting defensive challenge for the NBA's highest-scoring team when they travel to the desert to take on the Phoenix Suns in game-one of the conference finals. San Antonio is 7-4 against-the-spread in the postseason and have held opponents to 91.1 points/game with a slightly higher 98 points/game traveling. Phoenix is riding the strength of it's offense averaging 116 points/game and they have won 8-of-10 during second season keeping backers on the plus side with a 6-4 ATS mark. No doubt the Suns will be tough to stop on it's own hardwood where they have hit the century mark in 34 of last 38 games. But more importantly, can they cover the 2 1/2 points in this battle of offense vs defense? The Spurs took two-of-three from Suns this season cashing all three moving the mark to 5-0 against-the-number last five meetings. If San Antonio can hold Phoenix under the century mark the edge at the cash window increases. On the other hand if Suns can maintain the scoring and hit the 100 plateau covering the 2 1/2-points looks promising as the Spurs are 4-11 both SU / ATS last fifteen allowing 100+. As good as the Spurs defense is, I don't think they can contain the Phoenix offense at home. Three stars on the Suns.
