The defending champion Lakers open their season just about 2 1/2 months after the NBA Finals, and they'll be playing the Clippers for the first time since July 30 when the Lakers won 103-101. The Lakers signed LeBron James and Anthony Davis to contract extensions and added Montrezl Harrell and Dennis Schroder. The Clippers blew a 3-1 series lead and eventually lost to the Nuggets in the playoffs. They have a new coach in Tyronn Lue, and Kawhi Leonard and Paul George will have to redeem themselves for the postseason collapse. The Clippers finished the season covering the spread just once in six games, and it will take a while to adjust to a new system while everything should immediately fit together for the champs.
