The friction between Carmel Anthony and Mike D'Antoni led to the resigning of the coach, and the Knicks continue to be a team without identity, and chemistry. They have all-star caliber players in Stoudemire and Melo, a PG that has infused energy in Lin, but the wins still avoid them. The Knicks may abort the D'Antoni offense, and begin to play more of a conventional game which includes defending someone. The Pacers have changed dramatically from a team of the ilk of Golden State and Phoenix that simply tries to run their way into the win column, to one that plays great defense ranking fourth in the league in fewest points allowed at 92.1 points per game.
