Carlton Minus vs. Matthew Semelsberger

A pair of fighters making their UFC debuts square off here. Carlton Minus has split his last two fights and is taking this bout on less than one week's notice. He's from Alaska, so it's a long way to travel to Las Vegas. He lacks power and three of his last four fights have gone the distance. The only one that didn't was a second-rounder to Rick Story, losing via a Rare Naked Choke. He comes off a win over Schon Ellis, but it was close all the way. Ellis also took him down easily, and Minus played defense much of the way while landing week jabs, so he survived more than he won impressively. He hasn't faced very good competition in his career and steps up to battle Matthew Semelsberger. Semelsberger has won three in a row, off a first-round KO of Richard Patishnock and a second-round TKO of Kristopher Gratalo. Semelsberger has a weight advantage, is two inches taller, and has a two-inch reach edge. Minus will struggle against a guy with more power and is working on short notice.
