Washington at St. Louis

St. Louis appears unstoppable after winning again on Wednesday and this time it was by scoring five runs in the ninth to pull out a 6-5 victory capped by Tommy Edman's two-run double. The Cardinals are 47-23 at home and Washington is 26-42 on the road and the Nationals are headed for a last-place finish in the NL East. Josiah Gray gave up six runs on six hits in five innings his last start against the Mets on Friday. Gray had a 5.06 ERA in August and 6.75 in July and in his only appearance against St. Louis this season he allowed four runs in five innings. Ageless Adan Wainwright goes for the Cardinals and they have won six of his past eight starts and he has a 2.41 ERA at home this season.
