Washington at San Diego

The San Diego Padres have not been a very competitive team the last few years, but that changed over the winter as they went on a spending spree, dramatically transforming this team into a true contender. The Padres are 19-17, a mark equal to the Nationals, who everyone thought would be the best team in baseball this season. Washington has not started they had hoped, and Ryan Zimmermann has been rather pedestrian at 2-2 with a 4.20 ERA. San Diego has a blossoming start in Cory Spangenberg, who went deep twice last night, and is 9-25 in his last eight games. Odrisamer Despaigne has not been very good so far, but he owns a career 4-1 record at Petco with a sparkling 2.11 ERA. Play on San Diego.
