Washington, with a pair of 3-2 decisions to open this series, has gotten even with the Mets in the loss column. It would be huge for this team which has lost an average of 99 games a year, and finished in the basement all three times, to finish 3rd this season. The Mets have gone through streaks this season looking great, or horrible and there seems to be no middle ground for this team. Right now they look listless as they have gone 1-6 over their last seven games, dropping four straight. Mike Pelfrey, once the crowned jewel of the Mets farm system, has simply not materialized into what they thought he could be. He owns a career losing record, and has a 4.66 ERA this season. The Nats have won four straight vs a righthander, and have momentum and a winnable game here. New York is just 18-37 in Pelfrey's last 55 starts within the division. I like Washington here.
