The Cincinnati Reds will hand the ball to free agent signee Frankie Montas today vs. the Washington Nationals. Montas finished sixth in the Cy Young voting in 2021 and this will be his third Opening Day start, so he certainly understands the role here. Washington will counter with Josiah Gray who made 30 starts last season and finished with an 8-13 mark backed by a 3.91 ERA. The Nats finished 12-18 in his 30 starts a year ago but he was ineffective over his last 18 starts where the Nats were 6-12, and lost his last three road starts of the season.
