These teams have both been down for so long it is a surprise to see them both as bona fide playoffs contenders. The Nationals have been the biggest surprise, but one place they have stumbled is against the rugged AL East as they are 2-5 in their last seven after losing a tough one here last night by a 2-1 verdict. While getting good pitching, the Nats have struggled offensively all season. In their last seven games they have pushed across just 19 total runs at 2.8 per contest. The Orioles’ pitching staff has been great of late, allowing just 15 total runs in their last six at 2.5 per contest. Jackson has been the weak link in the Nats’ rotation, and they have stumbled to a 1-6 mark in his last seven road starts. The O's are taking charge vs. good pitching now at 17-5 in their last 22 vs. a pitcher with a WHIP of less than 1.15. Play on Baltimore.
