Washington wasted a great pitching performance from Jake Irvin, who threw six shutout innings on two hits while striking out 10 batters on Tuesday and the Nationals lost 2-0. MacKenzie Gore will try to match that effort and he is fully capable as he is coming three quality starts, including a 6-1 win over Seattle on Friday when he allowed just a run on four hits in seven innings. Gore has a 3.04 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP overall and a 2.42 ERA and .214 opponent batting average in four road outings. The Nationals have won four of five against teams that scored two or fewer runs their previous game. Atlanta has split its past 10 games and suffered a serious blow with Ronald Acuna Jr. being out for the rest of the year. The Braves have gone UNDER seven of eight against NL East opponents and the UNDER is 4-0-1 in Gore's past five starts versus teams that allowed two or fewer runs their previous game.
