Texas has hit a rough patch and comes off a 5-3 loss to the Angels on Thursday, but the Rangers still are in first place and 3 1/2 games ahead of Houston in the AL West and 22-12 at home. The Rangers had won nine of Martin Perez's first 12 starts this season before he suffered a bad outing against Tampa Bay on Sunday and that is the reason Texas is the home underdog tonight. However, Perez is 3-0 with a 1.40 ERA while allowing just four earned runs in 25 2/3 innings in four home appearances this season. Kevin Gausman was knocked out in the fifth inning his last start against Minnesota when he gave up six runs on seven hits and he has a 5.60 ERA in night games. Texas has won 10 of 13 following a loss and 11 of 14 after allowing at least five runs its previous game. The Rangers are 42-26 on the run line, including 21-13 at home in 2023.
