The Yankees will open the season with Chien-Ming Wang on the hill, and he will be opposed by Roy Halladay. Halladay has really been difficult to solve for the Yankees, as he is 6-1 in his last seven starts against the Bronx Bombers. The Yankee lineup has produced a total of just 19 runs in these seven games, or 2.7 runs per game. Wang has been the winningest pitcher in baseball over the past two years with 38, but fell apart during the postseason and has pitched poorly all spring, seemingly not recovering. Wang is a notoriously slow starter. The past two seasons, his first four starts of the year have shown him pitch 49.1 innings, allowing 58 hits and 31 earned runs for an ERA of 5.66. The Yankees never get out of the gate hot, as the past four years they have won a minimum of 94 games, but their April ledger shows 44-49, or 47.3%. We like the matchup on the mound, as well as the situational matchup. Jays spoil the last opener at the old stadium.
