Texas started the season injured and poorly, and certainly did not look to be a team that had any kind of chance for the playoffs. They started April with a 7-14 record but rebounded to finish 81-60. The Rangers used 14 different starters on the season, and because of the tightness of their race to make the playoffs, they have to open with Yovani Gallardo, and the Rangers were just 8-8 on the road when he took the ball. Toronto finished as the highest scoring team in baseball, by far. The big move for them was getting game one starter David Price prior to the trade deadline. Toronto was considered an ace away from being a Championship caliber team, and Price was considered the answer, and he sure delivered. Price led the Jays to a 9-2 mark in his 11 starts, out-scoring opponents 6.9 to 2.9. The Rangers have been just 4-12 in their last 16 games vs. Toronto. The Jays have been a beast vs. right-handed pitching at home where they are 37-14 in their last 51 games. Texas is just 1-4 in their last five playoff road games, and the matchup here is well advantaged for the Jays. Take Toronto in game one.
