The Texas Rangers grabbed the win in game one - an easy 5-1 verdict over the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays were not the same team down the stretch, and there has to be concern with Shields toting the slab in game two. Shields pitched for a team in the Rays with over a .600 winning percentage, but managed to go just 13-15 on the season with an ERA of over 5. He was really struggling down the stretch where he was pitching to a 7.59 ERA over his last six starts. C.J. Wilson was the most reliable starter in the AL this season, and that also means most profitable. The Rangers finished with a 24-9 mark when he took the mound, good for +12.49 units of profit. The Rangers have the momentum, while the Rays have to be frustrated, and they also have a decided edge on the mound with Wilson vs. Shields. To get the Rangers as a small dog here is certainly a value laden proposition, and I'll go with Texas in game two.
