The Texas Rangers did damage to the fading playoffs hopes of the Los Angeles Angles last night with a 6-2 win. The Angels now trail the A's by 3.5 games for the final wildcard spot. With 13 games left to play they are in big trouble. Over their last nine games they are just 4-5. Tonight they go against Yu Darvish who is 15-9 with a 4.02 ERA. Darvish went through a bad stretch but has recovered, and is pitching like he did early in the season. He has not allowed more than 3 runs in any of his last six starts with the Rangers winning five of them. The Angels do battle with 14-5 Zack Greinke, but he is just a pedestrian 5-5 since joining the Angels at the trade deadline. The Rangers have been good in game three of a series, typically the closeout game, at 18-7 in their last 25, including 4-0 behind Darvish. The Angels strugglr at home vs. good teams and are now 3-8 in their last 11 vs. a team with a winning road record. Texas gets the call.
