Texas has climbed into third place in the AL West after winning five of its past eight, although it does come off two losses at Houston while scoring only three runs. Current Texas hitters are batting .416 with a .494 slugging percentage in 38 at-bats versus Syndergaard, who has a 5.54 ERA and .339 opponent batting average in May. Dane Dunning faced the Angels on Wednesday and allowed just two runs on three hits in six innings. Texas swept Los Angeles in a three-game series last week while scoring 23 runs and the Rangers have won six of eight following a loss.
