This is a crucial series for the Angels, getting AL West leader Texas at home, trailing by just four games. A pivotal game one should bring out the best in the Halos, as they either finish this series making a race out of the West, or faltering into desperation. This is a four game series, and they still have three more at home vs. the Rangers. Alexi Ogando showed some wear and tear in his last outing, surrendering 6 runs to the light-hitting Mariners. Garrett Richard's made his Angels debut in a tough spot when he faced the Yankees on the road at the Stadium, and should be far more relaxed at home. The Rangers are just 2-6 in their last eight on the road vs. a team with a winning record, while the Angels show a 17-4 mark in their last 21 off a loss, and have an 18-6 mark in their last 24 series openers. The Rangers are leaking oil here, just 2-5 in their last seven. The Angels get this one on the runline.
