The Texas Rangers have endured an injury riddled season that has long ago left them out of contention. They went through an elongated stretch of playing lethargic baseball, but have come back since then and have been a lot more competitive. The pitching has done a better job lately, holding 11 of their last 15 opponents to 4 runs or fewer. Kansas City is just 4-5 in their last nine games, and are in contention for the first time in years. However, their talented, but young team may be starting to feel the pressure of a playoff drive. Tepesch has had a lot more success, and has been a lot more effective when he has an extra day of rest as the Rangers are 4-1 in his last five starts on five days of rest. The Royals have squandered a lot of opportunities at home vs. a team with a road winning percentage of under .400, where they are a dismal 7-19 in their last 26. Take Texas in this one.
