It is crunch time in Kansas City for the first time in years, and their young players are going to either step up or fold up down the stretch as their playoffs fate hangs in the balance. The Royals are just 3-4 on their current home stand, one in which they needed to shine, but haven't and escaped the Rangers last night 4-3. Texas hit rock bottom during an awful extended stretch, but has shown more life since. The Rangers hope to get a boost from Derek Holland, who is making his first start of the season after finishing last season with a 3.42 ERA. Jeremy Guthrie has been mediocre this season, and his record is just 10-10, but he carries a not so lofty 4.43 ERA into this contest. The Rangers boast of a 35-16 record in Holland's last 51 starts vs. a winning team. Kansas City has been a no-show at home vs. a team with a road winning percentage under .400 at just 7-19 in their last 26. Go with the visiting Rangers.
