It was a long night last night for these teams, as the A's continued their red-hot play by winning 4-3 in 15 innings. I was a demoralizing loss for the Rays with their ace David Price on the mound, and they will try to bounce-back behind James Shields tonight. Shields is starting to look like a one-year wonder, after going 16-123 with a 2.82 ERA a year ago. This year he is 8-7 with a 4.52 ERA, which is more in line with his career results. Lately he has been getting pounded, allowing 31 runs in his last seven over 45.1 innings for an ERA of 6.15. The A's counter tonight with Tom Milone who has allowed 2 runs or less in six of his last seven. The A's have pounded right-hand pitching to the tune of 23-5 in their last 28, while the Rays are just 2-5 in their last seven vs. a southpaw. Play on Oakland.
