The Yankees have had a patchwork lineup all season as they have been mired with injury-riddled players. Their offense has produced next to nothing, and some of the offensive stats represent historic lows, going all the way back to 1969, when they simply were not very good. Wells, Hafner, and Overbay gave them a lift early, but the trio of aging stars has slumped badly. The Yankees' offense has produced 3 runs or less in six of their last eight, and they have now lost seven of their last nine. The Yanks can't even hit average pitching, and are 0-6 in their last six vs. a pitcher with a WHIP of greater than 1.30. The Rays are 11-5 in their last 16 on the road vs. a right-handed pitcher, and have given the Yanks fits in recent years. Take Tampa Bay.
