Andy Sonnanstine was once offering promise to the Rays as a viable long-term starter. He came across some hard times on the mound and was relegated to the bullpen. Out of necessity he is back in the rotation without much success. He opposes Anibel Sanchez, a starter with a viable long-term prognosis as a top-of-the-rotation starter for the Marlins, and he is delivering on that prospect. Sanchez has whiffed more batters than innings pitched and his ERA sits at a pretty 2.90. Sonnanstine has whiffed as well, but his whiff is an imperfect 0-8 in his last eight starts vs. a winning team. Florida gets the call here.
