Despite what you saw last night, October baseball is more about defense, pitching and low-scoring games. With a blowout in Game 3, both managers were able to go with their worst bullpen arms to save their better arms. For Game 4, St. Louis starter Edwin Jackson is a good strikeout pitcher with 9 Ks, 2 walks in 12 postseason innings and that will help in a park like Arlington. The UNDER is 7-3 in the Cardinals’ last 10 interleague games and 8-3 UNDER the total in the Cardinals last 11 World Series games. Both teams are exceptional defensively in the field, as we saw the first two games. Texas has a deep bullpen and hard-throwing Derrek Holland on the hill, with the team 4-0 in postseason play following a great September where teams hit .181 off him. And the Cardinals have never faced him. The UNDER is 7-1 in the Rangers’ last eight interleague home games vs. a team with a winning record and 16-5 UNDER the total in their last 21 interleague games vs. a team with a winning record. I see that Ron Kulpa is behind the plate tonight and the UNDER is 7-3-1 in Kulpa's last 11 games behind home plate with Texas playing. With so much at stake, look for both managers to go with their best arms and, like Games 1 and 2, a defensive battle. Play Game 4 UNDER.
