St. Louis at Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh is on a roll, winning four in a row and six of eight. Pedro Alvarez singled in the go-ahead run and the Pirates won their fourth straight game Saturday, 4-3 over the St. Louis Cardinals. They have a winning home record and face a struggling St. Louis offense that has a losing road record. The Cardinals are 1-6 in their last seven road games vs. a team with a losing record. St. Louis righty Shelby Miller has a good ERA, but a lot of things are wrong, walking 23 in 39 innings and allowing 35 hits -- that ERA won't stay good if he keeps allowing that many base runners. Pirates righty Charlie Morton (3.45 ERA) limited the Giants to one unearned run in eight innings Tuesday, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out three. He has a 2.77 ERA at home where opponents hit .211 off him. He faces a St. Louis offense that is 25th in runs scored and 24th in slugging.
